From the Western Champion in 1898;
“The hotels are three in number. The Royal, owned by Mr George Clarke is by far the best in town. The rooms are large and well furnished, and the other arrangements are of the most modern. Mr Cooper’s is also a very nice place. The other is known as Egg’s Bobadah Hotel…”
The Overflow mine at Bobadah closed for good in 1942, and in 1954 the village was described as a ‘ghost town’ as the population had sunk to 143 (from its high point at 300-400). In 2016 the population, including the surrounding area, was 10.
