At a green and grassy depression near the Wattagoona Ranges the ‘Kerrigundi Bore’ holds the secrets of its key location along the road from Louth to Cobar.
Later to become a public watering place and location for a manager’s quarters, there are stories of a mine and crushing quarry being located nearby, as well as the obvious likely use as a changing station for horses. In later years a Kerrigundi cricket club featured in the local competition and there was even a temporary aerodrome established at the site. Many hotels around western NSW are linked to bores and public watering places, though little is known of the Kerrigundi Hotel other than a few oblique references in old publications.
